Who are we?

  • We are a team of over 50 trained Crisis Support Workers and “first responders” who provide support during the first few critical hours after a crime or tragic event.
  • We are citizens from the community who have a willingness to help others and volunteer to receive approximately 45 hours of training by a civilian program coordinator.
  • We are at least 22 years of age and go through a strict selection process and sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
  • We provide 24-hour service and respond to only those incidents that have been attended by the Police.
  • We provide an essential link between the Police and victims and are able to provide information regarding the status of investigations, court cases and trial dispositions. We even are able to forward information to investigating officers if needed.
  • We will attend court with victims and support them through their entire ordeal.
  • We provide information regarding Victim impact statements, Restitution and Financial Benefit programs.
  • We are conscientious citizens who take on extra training to provide free home security checks to the community of Lethbridge upon request.

WE ARE YOUR VICTIM/WITNESS SERVICES UNIT.
