Divisions: The Support Services Division

The Support Services Division is a new division that provides support to all other divisions as required. Members of this division provide a specialized response to ongoing crises and ensure the continuous flow of information through systems designed to enhance policing operations. In its support role, this division is responsible for:
Public Safety Communications Co-managing (Police Service and Fire Department) the communications centre by providing integrated police and fire communications and emergency dispatch, as well as the regional 9-1-1 call centre.
Information Technology Enabling the Service to remain current in a rapidly evolving field.
Records Management Accommodating present and future demands for internal and external information flow.
Tactical Support Providing emergent, specialized response to crises through canine handlers, major incident commanders, crisis negotiators, tactical team support, Chemical, Biological, Radioactive and Nuclear (CBRN) unit, and bomb disposal technicians. In addition to often being the citizens first point of contact with the Service through the Communications Centre, the Support Services Division is available to all other Divisions as required, whether for assistance with specialized situations, information, or technology.
