Police charge man with assault with a weapon, seeking video evidence from public to assist ongoing investigation

Lethbridge Police are asking anyone with video evidence of an incident involving a man with a weapon walking south on Mayor Magrath Drive to come forward.

On April 11, 2024, at approximately 7:24 p.m., police responded to multiple calls of a male with a weapon walking in and out of traffic along Mayor Magrath Drive and striking at vehicles. Upon arrival, police located and arrested the subject.

Scott Anthony Angel Varhaug, 34, of Lethbridge, is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, cause disturbance, mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with a probation order. 

Lethbridge Police are asking anyone who may have cell-phone or dashcam footage of the incident around the area of Mayor Magrath Drive/23 Street N and 9 Avenue South between 6:55pm and 7:35pm to come forward. Call police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 24006461.
