A 24-year-old Lethbridge man charged in connection with a shooting incident Tuesday made his first court appearance today and was remanded in custody until his next appearance May 9 .
On May 6, 2014 at approximately 12:15 a.m. police responded to multiple 911 calls of shots fired in the area of Mt. Rundle Way and Mt. Rundle Road after a male armed with a baseball bat and firearm shot at a vehicle and residence. Several rounds were fired through the door of a home occupied by a family, but fortunately no one was injured. One round was also fired at a vehicle.
Police were quickly able to locate the subject and he was arrested without further incident. A baseball bat and long rifle were also recovered.
Investigation to date suggests that shooting appears to be a targeted incident stemming from a dispute earlier in the evening; however the subject targeted the wrong residence.
There is no history of any problems or any current dispute between the accused and the family whose home was shot at, nor is there any connection between the accused and the vehicle that was damaged.
Jesse Dallas Hills, 24, of Lethbridge with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, use of a firearm while committing an offence, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm into a place, unauthorized possession of a firearm.
As the matter is before the courts no further details will be released
