Assault investigation ongoing; anyone with information asked to come forward

Lethbridge Police continue to investigate the assault of a 25-year-old woman and are asking anyone who may have information to come forward.

On the morning of Sept. 30, 2016 EMS and police responded to a report of an injured woman along the 2000 block of 6 Avenue South. The woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries.  She remains in hospital in critical but stable condition.

Investigation has determined the 25-year-old was walking eastbound along 6 Avenue South between 6 and 7 a.m. when she was attacked. Police are asking anyone who may have seen a woman, any other persons or any suspicious activity along 6 Avenue South between 13 Street and Mayor Magrath Drive during that time frame, to call 403-328-4444.

At this time it is unknown if this was a random or targeted assault.

The investigation is ongoing and police will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
