Charges pending in homicide investigation

Lethbridge Regional Police have arrested a 29-year-old man and murder charges are pending in connection with the death of a male whose body was found Saturday in a north side home.

On September 19, 2015 at approximately 12:30 p.m. police responded to a home along the 500 block of 19 Street North after receiving a request to check on the welfare of an occupant. Officers subsequently located the body of 29-year-old Matthew James Flitton.

Through further investigation a 29-year-old man, who is an associate of the victim, was identified as a suspect and was arrested with the assistance of the Tactical Team at a south side residence Saturday night. He remains in custody at this time and charges are anticipated be formalized later tonight.

The name of the accused will be released once the charge has been sworn.

Media are advised that an opportunity for on-camera interviews will be scheduled for Monday.
