Charges pending in motorcycle collision

Lethbridge Regional Police continue to investigate a motorcycle collision over the weekend that resulted in serious injuries to a 29-year-old man.

On April 19, 2015 at approximately 4:10 p.m. a Honda motorcycle travelling eastbound in the 2500-2700 block of Scenic Drive South with a group of motorcycles was observed weaving through traffic at high speeds. The 29-year-old driver of the motorcycle lost control and was ejected as he approached the 28 Street South intersection. After being ejected the man’s body continued travelling east and struck a car before coming to rest. The motorcycle hit a traffic light standard and came to rest on the median. The driver was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital with serious injuries and remains in the ICU.

Speed was a factor in the collision, and while the investigation is ongoing at this time, charges against the 29-year-old driver are anticipated.

As police continue to investigate officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision and have not already spoken to police to contact Cst. Yoan Bernatchez 403-327-2210.
