Police charge male in connection with assault

Lethbridge Police have charged a 41-year-old male in connection with an assault over the weekend.

On December 14, 2019 at approximately 1 a.m. police responded to a report of suspicious circumstances after blood was found inside and outside an apartment building along the 3500 block of Sylvan Road South. A 51-year-old male was later located inside one of the units suffering from head injuries that were bleeding profusely. He was transported to hospital and treated for multiple facial fractures.

LPS continues investigation into missing Calgary man

The Lethbridge Police Service has assumed carriage of the investigation into a 26-year-old Calgary man who has been missing since mid-November.

Marshal Iwaasa was last seen by family in Lethbridge on Nov. 17, 2019. Iwaasa told family he was returning to Calgary, however he has not been seen or heard from since.

Police warning residents to be wary of smishing scams

Lethbridge Police are advising the public to be wary of unsolicited text messages that claim to be from their bank, cell phone carrier or other seemingly legitimate sources, especially when they contain links.

“Smishing” – the SMS text message equivalent of email phishing scams – is prevalent and police are aware of several residents who recently received messages that appear to be from their cell provider. The scam texts indicate the victim has overpaid their monthly cell phone bill and must click the link in the message to deposit their refund.

Two men charged in connection with downtown assault

Lethbridge Police have charged two men in connection with an incident where a 37-year-old male was assaulted Friday morning.

On December 6, 2019 at approximately 8:30 a.m. police responded to a report of an assault along the 200 block of 5 Street South after a citizen located an injured male and called 911. EMS transported the victim to hospital where he was treated for multiple cuts and lacerations to his head and later released.
