Four men pepper sprayed in series of overnight assaults

Lethbridge Police are investigating multiple assaults during the early morning hours after four men were pepper sprayed.

On June 30, 2016 between 12:20 a.m. and 2:58 a.m. police responded to four assault reports involving male victims who were sprayed in the face with pepper spray. Two of the incidents occurred near the 300 block of Stafford Drive North, one near the 400 block of 5 Street South and the other in the alley along the 200 block of 1 Avenue South.

In three of the cases, the victims were confronted by a group of males who were unknown to them and in the fourth case the victim was confronted and assaulted by a male subject who is known to him. In all cases the subjects fled the area prior to police arrival and despite efforts to find them, were not located.

None of the victims was seriously injured. Two were transported to hospital to be decontaminated, one was treated by EMS and the other fled the scene prior to police or EMS arrival.

Police have identified one of the suspects, who is believed to be responsible for all four assaults.

Investigation is ongoing.
