Four people charged in series of crimes

Lethbridge Regional Police have charged three men in connection with several recent crimes.

On Aug. 16 at approximately 5 a.m. a group of males were at a house party along the 600 block of 12 Street South. The group was involved in an altercation outside the home and one of the men deployed a can of bear spray and brandished and axe.  A second male was also in possession of a firearm. The males attempted to gain entry to the home but were locked out by the occupants. Multiple windows were smashed and the males fled in a red car.

On Aug. 17 at approximately 12:57 a.m. police observed a vehicle matching the description of the red suspect vehicle along the 200 block of 13 Street North. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle did not pull over.

At 6:35 p.m. police responded to a report that a male and female entered the Westminster Liquor store and while the clerk was distracted, the male stole a bottle of liquor and fled on foot. The female got into a waiting red car and the male was picked up a short distance away.

The suspect vehicle was located later in the evening parked at a residence along the 2500 block of 13 Street North. Further investigation determined that four subjects – three males and a female – were inside the home and around 8 p.m. police cordoned off the area. The cordon was a precautionary measure in the interest of public safety as the subjects were believed to be in possession of a firearm. Approximately three hours later all four subjects surrendered to police and were arrested without incident. Police also seized a firearm and recovered the red car which had been taken without the owner’s consent.
