Four people facing weapons charges

On January 23, 2015 around 07:55 hrs LRPS investigated a call where subjects were in possession of a prohibited weapon. Investigation revealed that the subjects were attempting to sell the weapon to other acquaintances in the area. All the subjects were located and arrested and a search warrant was obtained for a residence in the 800 block of 4 Street South. Police recovered a sawed off shotgun as a result of the search.

Charged are the following:

· Maryann Lee WHITE MAN LEFT (26) of Lethbridge is charged with: unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, offer to sell firearm and possess weapon contrary to weapon prohibition order.

· Andy Troy SPEARCHIEF (27) of Lethbridge is charged with: unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, offer to sell firearm and possess weapon.

Further investigation revealed that the shotgun was used in a previous incident on January 22. In that incident, two subjects approached a third person (all three are known to each other). An altercation broke out and the shotgun was displayed and a knife was used to assault the third subject.
Charged in this incident are the following:

· Carson Luke SMALLEYES (23) of Cardston is charged with: assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

· Warrants are outstanding for Coben Jason STEELE (21) of Lethbridge is charged with: Possess offensive weapon dangerous to public, Unauthorized possession of firearm, Knowingly possess prohibited/restricted weapon, Possess prohibited firearm, Possess firearm/weapon obtained by commission of offence, Assault with a weapon, Use of firearm while committing offence, Pointing a firearm

WHITE MAN LEFT, SPEARCHIEF and SMALLEYES have been held in custody to appear in court on January 26, 2015.
