Lethbridge Regional Police continue to investigate a triple homicide in the Varsity Village neighbourhood.
On April 28, 2015 just before 2:30 a.m. police located the bodies of three people – two males and one female – inside a home along the 200 block of McGill Boulevard. Police had responded to the residence after a concerned neighbour requested that officers check on the welfare of the occupants.
The victims have tentatively been identified as a 27-year-old male, 24-year-old female and an 18-year-old male however their identities will not be released at this time pending official confirmation. Further, while some family members have been contacted, police have not yet completed next of kin notifications.
Police believe the deceased persons are victims of a targeted incident – not a random crime – and there is no evidence to suggest any ongoing risk to neighbours or the general public.
Members of the Lethbridge Search and Rescue Association have been assisting police in a search of the area for evidence related to the crime and a portion of McGill Boulevard has been cordoned off since the early morning hours.
Crisis Support Workers with the Victim/Witness Services Unit have also been providing support to family members of the victims and the Service will be providing after-care for our first responders and other investigators.
Currently there are no subjects in custody and police will continue to work around the clock to bring the person or persons responsible for this crime to justice.
