Kids 'n Kops provides strong role models and a close up look at policing

This week nine youngsters are spending their days with members of the Lethbridge Regional Police Service during the 2015 Kids ’n Kops program.

The annual week-long program for children waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister started today and aims to provide the kids with strong adult roles models while they learn more about police work and get to know the people behind the badges.

Kids ’n Kops activities include demonstrations by K9, the Tactical Team, Explosive Disposal Unit and Traffic Unit as well as mini golf, a tour of the Fire Hall, group games and a field trip to the corn maze.

The program wraps up Aug. 21 with a graduation ceremony.

**Media are invited to attend the K9 demo on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre Field. Officers will be available for interviews at that time. Media are advised that all children have the necessary approval forms to be filmed/photographed**
