Lace up your runners and come practice with the police

The Lethbridge Regional Police Half Marathon-10K-5K is only a few months away and the Service is encouraging all runners to come check out the routes and practice with the police.

The second annual LRPS run goes Sept. 13 and will feature picturesque routes that showcase the Coalbanks Trail pathway system, Indian Battle/Botterill river valley parks and the historic High Level Bridge.  The 5K, 10K and half marathon routes offer a variety of options for runners of all ages and abilities and the race is family-friendly – strollers are welcome.

In preparation for the run, LRPS is hosting three free training days where citizens are encouraged to come out and practice with the police. Training days are as follows:

 5K route – Saturday, June 21 at 8 a.m.
10K route – Saturday, July 19 at 8 a.m.
Half Marathon route – Saturday, Aug. 23 at 8 a.m.

For all training days runners are advised to meet in the Sunlife Parking Lot, 404 Scenic Drive South. All sessions will be led by Cst. Braylon Hyggen.

Cost to register for the LRPS run is $55 for the Half Marathon or $40 for the 10K or 5K.

Registration prior to Aug. 15 includes a dry fit t-shirt and finishers medal.
