Lethbridge man charged with aggravated assault

Lethbridge Police have charged a 35-year-old man with aggravated assault in connection with an incident at a downtown night club.

On April 23, 2017 at approximately 2:19 a.m. police responded to a report of a physical altercation at Sound Garden along the 900 block of 1 Avenue South. Upon arrival police located an unconscious male on the ground and multiple witnesses pointed out another male alleged to be responsible for the assault. The victim was transported to hospital by EMS for treatment of significant head injuries and later transferred to Calgary Foothills Hospital. The subject was arrested without incident.

Further investigation, which included the full cooperation of Sound Garden staff, determined the two males had been involved in a verbal dispute that escalated to a physical confrontation.

John Travois Marr Bear, 35, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of aggravated assault. He is scheduled to appear in court April 27.
