Lethbridge man charged with aggravated assault

Lethbridge Police have charged a 32-year-old man in connection with a stabbing early Wednesday morning outside a southside apartment complex.

On March 21, 2018 just before 6:30 a.m. police responded to a report that two men had been involved in a physical altercation along the 1600 block of Scenic Drive South. Investigation determined that a 32-year-old man had driven a female to a friend’s apartment. Upon arrival the 32-year-old male was confronted by a 30-year-old male, who was armed with a knife, and the pair engaged in verbal argument which escalated to a physical altercation. The 32-year-old disarmed the younger male and subsequently stabbed him multiple times before leaving the scene. He drove a short distance then called 911. Both men sustained injuries and were transported to hospital. The 32-year-old was treated and released and the 30-year-old remains in hospital in serious but stable condition. The 23-year-old female was found to have outstanding warrants and was arrested without incident at the scene.

Lukus Stewart, 32, is charged with one count of aggravated assault. Stewart was released from custody with conditions following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to appear in court March 29.
