Lethbridge man charged in connection with stabbing

Lethbridge Regional Police have charged a 40-year-old man with aggravated assault in connection with an incident late Tuesday afternoon where a 43-year-old man was stabbed in the head.

On Nov. 4, 2014 at approximately 4:55 p.m. police responded to a report of two men fighting an alley along the 1400 block of 3 Avenue North. Upon arrival police observed an injured male lying on the ground. A 40-year-old male was arrested at the scene. The 43-year-old victim was transported by EMS to Chinook Regional Hospital and subsequently flown to Foothills Hospital in Calgary where he remains in serious, but stable condition.

Following further investigation by members of the Violent Crimes Unit the 40-year-old man has now been charged.

Sonny Clement Day Rider, 40, of Lethbridge, is charged with aggravated assault. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 6.
