Lethbridge Police have charged a 40-year-old man with aggravated assault in connection with a stabbing last week.
On December 29, 2015 at approximately 11:45 p.m. police responded to a 911 call reporting a man had been stabbed in the alley along the 500 block of 6 Avenue South. Upon arrival, police located two males – one suffering from serious stab wounds. Investigation determined the men had been socializing then became involved in a physical altercation, resulting in a 32-year-old man being stabbed with a knife.
The subject was arrested at the scene and the victim was transported to hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He was subsequently transferred to Foothills Hospital in Calgary via STARS Air Ambulance where he currently remains in stable condition.
Shawn Stanley Levi Lawson, 40, of Lethbridge is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. Lawson was released from custody and is scheduled to make his second court appearance Jan. 8.
