Lethbridge Police have charged a 29-year-old man in connection with a home invasion Tuesday morning.
On Nov. 14, 2017 at approximately 5:15 a.m. police responded to a report that a male with a firearm broke into a home along the 500 block of 12 Street South, threatened a male and female and demanded cash and drugs. The subject discharged one round inside the home and then fled the residence when one of the occupants was able to identify him. No one was injured. Following further investigation police attended a home along the 600 block of 12 Street South. The residence was contained and the area cordoned off as a precaution. Police negotiators were able to make contact with the subject and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect and victims are known to one another. This was not a random incident.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone in the area of the 500 and 600 blocks of 12 Street South who may have observed suspicious activity or suspicious people between 4:45 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. to call 403-328-4444.
Jonathan Alexander Kogler, 29, is charged with one count each of robbery with a firearm, careless use/storage of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, intentional and reckless discharge of a firearm, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, disguised during the commission of an offence and housebreaking with intent.
Kogler is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
