Lethbridge woman killed in early morning pedestrian collision

Lethbridge Police continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision after a 39-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle on Whoop Up Drive early this morning.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. police responded to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a mini-van in the middle lane of eastbound Whoop-Up Drive. The pedestrian, identified as Gwendalyn Marie Creeley, was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Eastbound traffic was closed until approximately 6:20 a.m. while police completed the scene investigation.

The 70-year-old female driver of the mini-van was not injured. The speed of the mini-van was not a factor, nor was alcohol a factor on the part of the driver, however there is evidence to suggest the pedestrian had been drinking.

The investigation is ongoing, but charges are not anticipated.
