Police charge male in connection with string of commercial break-ins

Lethbridge Police have charged a 55-year-old man in connection with five commercial break and enters over the past two weeks.

Following a short term investigation into multiple break and enters between May 16 and June 2, 2019 a suspect was identified and on June 3, 2019 members of the Priority Crimes Unit obtained and executed a search warrant at a west side home. Police seized stolen property and collected other evidence linking the accused to five commercial break-ins resulting in losses totaling approximately $20,000 from Highlands Pet Hospital, Mr. Lube South and West, Safeway Liquor and the Great Canadian Oil Changer. The male was arrested at the scene without incident.

Larry Brent Ovens, 55, of Lethbridge, is charged with five counts of shopbreaking and commit theft. Ovens is scheduled to appear in court June 11.
