Police charge man with sexual assault

 Lethbridge Regional Police have charged a 26-year-old male with sexual assault in connection with an incident last week.On April 14, 2014 at approximately 5 p.m. two females were walking in separate directions in the area of the 900 block of 4 Avenue South when they were each approached by an unknown male riding a bicycle. In each case the male engaged the women in conversation, asked to see their fingernails then assaulted one of the women by grabbing her.

On April 15, 2014 police received a report that the male had returned to the area and approached three other women. Attempts to locate the male were unsuccessful at the time.

 All of these instances were random occurrences. The male was not known to any of the women he approached.

 Following further investigation, police identified the subject. On April 22, 2014 the male was located and subsequently charged.

 Sheldon Wayne Wilson, 26, of Lethbridge is charged with one count of sexual assault. He is scheduled to appear in court June 4. He was released from custody with several conditions, including a prohibition from attending within the area of 11 Street South to 8 Street South and 6 Avenue South to 3 Avenue South, except for the purpose of any business he may have at City Hall.

 Police advise the public to always be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately. Anyone else who may have been approached in this manner is asked to contact police 403-328-4444.
