Police charge man with sexual assault of woman at Henderson Lake

Lethbridge Police have charged a 27-year-old man in connection with an incident earlier this month where a woman was sexually assaulted while she was out for a walk around Henderson Lake.

On August 17, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m. police responded to a report that a 24-year-old woman had been walking on the east side of the lake near a bridge when she felt someone grab her arm. The unknown male proceeded to push her to the ground and attempted to remove her shorts. The woman was able to escape from the male and ran to her vehicle where she called police. Officers searched the area with the assistance of a K9 team but the suspect was not located. A composite drawing of the suspect was later completed and released to the public and a number of tips were received.

On August 26, 2017 a member of the Downtown Policing Unit located a male matching the description of the suspect. The male was arrested without incident and following further investigation he was subsequently charged.

Rommel Vincent Crying Head, 27, of Standoff, is charged with one count of sexual assault. Crying Head is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.
