Police charge man with voyeurism for a sexual purpose

Lethbridge Police have charged a 37-year-old man with voyeurism after a woman reported being accosted by a stranger who took an inappropriate photo of her.

On June 6, 2016 a 21-year-old female reported that she had been at a south side store when she was approached by an unknown male who kept brushing up against her and attempted to make conversation. The female ignored the male and walked away but the subject followed and allegedly used a cell phone to take a picture up her skirt.

The victim provided a description of the subject and police obtained surveillance footage from the store. The male was subsequently identified and on June 10 he was arrested without incident.

Geovanny Alexander Marroquin Funez, 37, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of voyeurism for a sexual purpose. Marroquin Funez was released with conditions, including a prohibition from possessing any device capable of taking photographs or video including a cell phone. Marroquin Funez is scheduled to appear in court June 22.
