Police charge three people in connection with theft of copper wire

Lethbridge Police have charged three people  in connection with the theft of copper wire from the City of Lethbridge.

On October 24, 2018 at approximately 9:46 a.m. police responded to a report that three people in a truck were stealing copper wire from a City of Lethbridge site along the 4400 block of 28 Street North. Police attended and located two males and a female inside the suspect vehicle. A steel tow chain was found to be wrapped around copper wire sticking out of the ground and police located additional pieces of cut wire in the back of the truck. The three suspects were arrested without incident.

Donald Patrick Macaulay, 48, of Calgary is charged with theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Michael Arthur Craine, 45, of Calgary, is charged with theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Jamie Maxine Rose Alexander, 24, of Calgary, is charged with theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

All three are currently remanded in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
