Police investigating armed robbery

Lethbridge Police have arrested several people in connection with an armed robbery.

On October 16, 2019 police responded to a report that a 28-year-old male in a room at the Superlodge Hotel along the 2200 block of 7 Avenue South  had been robbed at gunpoint. The victim reported two males – one armed with a black handgun – entered the room and demanded money and property. A duffle bag containing a phone, wallet, clothing and vaping products was taken and the males fled in a vehicle. The suspect vehicle was located a short time later at a residence along the 4000 block of 43 Street South and was observed to leave the area. Police followed the vehicle to the Exhibition Grounds and subsequently arrested two males and a three females. During a search incidental to arrest, one of the male subjects was found in possession of property belonging  to the robbery victim.

On the morning of Oct. 17, 2019 a search warrant for the home along the 4000 block of 43 Street South was obtained and executed. Given the possible presence of weapons, members of the Critical Incident Team – including the Tactical Team – were deployed to assist. Two females voluntarily exited the home and one was arrested for a breach of conditions. The other was released without charges. Upon entry by the Tactical Team no other occupants were located inside. During the search police recovered some undisclosed evidence related to the robbery.

Investigation in the matter is ongoing and police are in the process of interviewing the subjects in custody. The victim and subjects are believed to be known to one another and the robbery a targeted incident related to the drug trade.
