Police investigating homicide, one subject in custody

Lethbridge Police are investigating an apparent homicide following an incident at a northside home Thursday evening.

On April 28, 2016 at approximately 9:40 p.m. police responded to a report that a 54-year-old woman had been assaulted at a home along the 2300 block of 18 Street North.

The woman was located inside the home with life-threatening injuries and transported to Chinook Regional Hospital. She died in hospital a short time later.

A 28-year-old female suspect was taken into custody at the scene and the investigation is ongoing. Police remain on scene at the home at this time.

An autopsy has been scheduled for this morning at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary to confirm the cause of death.

Charges are pending.
