Police investigating life-threatening injury incident

UPDATE: Police have charged Venessa Lilian Francis, 19, of Lethbridge, with dangerous driving causing bodily harm. She is scheduled to appear in court June 16. At this time, there is no update on the injured male's condition. Investigation has determined drugs and alcohol were a factor in this incident.PREVIOUSLY RELEASED JUNE 5:

Lethbridge Regional Police are investigating an incident where a 22-year-old male fell out of a moving vehicle early this morning.

At approximately 4 a.m. the male was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries. Investigation determined that the male had been riding in the box of a pick-up truck in the area of 9 Avenue and 5 Street South, when he fell out and struck his head. The 19-year-old female driver of the truck transported the male to hospital but left prior to police arrival.

The male was subsequently transferred to Calgary Foothills Hospital and is currently in critical condition.

Investigation is ongoing. Further information will be released when available.
