Police investigating two armed robberies

Lethbridge Regional Police are investigating two commercial robberies that occurred Wednesday night.

On Feb. 25, 2015 at approximately 9:21 p.m. a masked male armed with a gun entered the Husky gas station along the 700 block of 13 Street North and demanded cash. None was provided and the subject fled the store. No one was injured.

At approximately 9:55 p.m. police responded to a second robbery at Subway along the 1600 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South after a masked male armed with a gun entered the store and demanded cash. An undisclosed amount was provided and the subject fled the store. No one was injured.

The subject in both cases is described as a Caucasian male in his mid-20s, approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall, with a medium build and brown hair, wearing a grey hoodie, black mask covering his face, black gloves, black pants and black shoes.

Investigation is ongoing, including the possibility the robberies from Wednesday night are linked to two robberies Monday night at Gas Plus and Neighbours.

Surveillance footage is included for release.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to contact police 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at www.tipsubmit.com. Crime Stoppers will pay cash for information leading to an arrest.

In light of the recent robbery spree police are advising all businesses to be vigilant with respect to safety, ensure surveillance equipment is operational and report any suspicious activity immediately.

In the event of a robbery, police are urging all business owners/employees not to put themselves at risk. No amount of money or property is worth your life. Comply with demands and focus on being the best witness possible. Record details such as the subject’s race, height, age, build, hair colour, eye colour, what clothing, any distinguishing features such as tattoos, did they leave on foot (what direction), were they in a vehicle, etc. Activate the business’ panic button if applicable, call police immediately after the robbery and lock the doors.
