Police investigating weekend home invasion and assault

Lethbridge Police are investigating a home invasion after two unknown males entered a north side home Sunday night and assaulted a 48-year-old man.

On February 5, 2017 at approximately 10:15 p.m. police responded to a home along the 1700 block of 13 Street North after receiving a 911 call reporting two males had entered the residence and attacked a male occupant with a machete. The 48-year-old victim was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. A female, who was also in the home at the time, was not injured.

The subjects are described as male, wearing black ski masks, black jackets and black pants. They were between 5’8 and 5’10 and one was armed with a machete. A third male, wearing a black ski mask and clothing, was also observed outside. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

Investigation is ongoing but the incident appears to be a targeted crime related to the drug trade.
