Police seeking public assistance to identify subject who stole wallet from senior citizen

Lethbridge Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a male wanted in connection with an incident where an elderly woman was accosted in a parking lot and had her wallet stolen.

On June 13, 2019 police responded to a report of a theft in the parking lot of the south side Walmart after a 78-year-old woman was approached by two unknown males while walking to her vehicle. Both males stood within very close proximity of the woman and began speaking in another language. The males used several distraction techniques such as pointing to items in a flyer and attempting to get the woman to take a $20 bill. The woman was able to get away from the men but when she got home she realized her wallet was missing.

Investigation determined credit card transactions began happening almost immediately and continued the next day from Lethbridge west to Revelstoke.

The first male is described as East Indian, approximately 30 years old, taller with a fair complexion. The second male is described as East Indian, shorter with a stocky build.

A surveillance image of one of the males has been obtained and is included for release.

Police are asking anyone who can identify the male, or has information that could assist the investigation, to call 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at www. p3tips.com. Crime Stoppers will pay cash for information leading to an arrest.
