Lethbridge Police have charged a man with drug trafficking offences and possession of a stolen vehicle after a member of the Downtown Policing Unit disrupted a drug transaction.
On October 7, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m. the officer was on bike patrol in Galt Gardens when he observed drug trafficking activity near the pergola. A male suspect was subsequently arrested and upon being searched police seized a bottle of methamphetamine, 15 pre-packaged baggies of methamphetamine, cash and two cell phones. Following further investigation the male suspect was found to have been driving a Dodge Caravan that was stolen out of Calgary. The vehicle contained 21 high-powered rifle rounds, 19 shotgun shells and was displaying a stolen license plate.
Jalil Ali Bahrami, 51, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and two counts of possession of prohibited ammunition.
Bahrami is scheduled to appear in court on October 26.
