Police seize more than $10,300 worth of drugs from south side hotel room

The Lethbridge Police Crime Suppression Team has arrested and charged a 37-year-old man with drug trafficking offences.

On February 4, 2020, following a short term investigation into drug trafficking activity, members of the Crime Suppression Team with assistance from the K9 Unit, attended a hotel along the 1000 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South and executed a warrant for the arrest of a male staying in one of the rooms. A male and female – both with outstanding warrants – were located inside and arrested without incident. During the search the male was found in possession of methamphetamine, carfentanil and crack cocaine with a street value of more than $10,300. In addition, police seized a can of pepper spray, brass knuckles, drug paraphernalia and more than $7,300 in cash.

Kevin Paul Rabeau, 37, of Lethbridge is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts each of knowingly possessing a prohibited/restricted weapon and unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon as well as one count of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Rabeau was remanded in custody to appear in court Feb. 7.
