RCMP to conduct aerial search of the Oldman River

Lethbridge Regional Police are advising the public that RCMP will be conducting an aerial search of the Oldman River as part of a provincial initiative to locate and recover human remains.

The Alberta RCMP Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains Unit will be deploying the RCMP helicopter today and Wednesday along the Bow River from the southern limit of the City of Calgary to the Saskatchewan border and along the Oldman River.

In the event that remains are located in the City of Lethbridge a ground search and recovery operation – including the use of the Lethbridge Fire Department boat – will be initiated.

The RCMP has already conducted river searches in central and northern Alberta and located remains along the banks of the North Saskatchewan River.

The search of the Oldman River is not specifically associated to any active investigations however LRPS does has four historical missing persons cases where the individuals have not been found.
