Search warrant results in seizure of firearm, drugs and stolen property

Lethbridge Police have charged a 50-year-old woman after a gun, drugs and stolen property were seized from a west side home Thursday afternoon.

On Dec. 5, 2019, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug activity, police obtained a search warrant for a home on the west side. Members of the Priority Crimes Unit, with assistance from other officers in the Field Operations and Criminal Investigation divisions, executed the search warrant at a home along Assiniboia Way. Six occupants were located inside the residence and police subsequently seized a .22 calibre rifle, a small quantity of methamphetamine, a larger quantity of an unknown powder suspected to be a buffing agent, just over $2,000 cash, trafficking paraphernalia, stolen ID and credits cards and multiple stolen bicycles.

Five of the subjects were released without charges, but a 50-year-old female has been charged with multiple offences.
Cheri Ellen Komar, 50, is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, possession of stolen identity documents, possession of stolen credit cards and three counts of breach of a recognizance.

Komar is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.

Investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
