Members of the Lethbridge Regional Police Traffic Response Unit continue to investigate a collision after a truck left the roadway and collided with a south side store earlier this morning.
At approximately 7:34 a.m. police responded to a report that a truck had collided with the Homes Alive pet store located at Stafford Drive and 3 Avenue South. Investigation determined that the truck had been southbound on Stafford Drive at 2 Avenue South when the driver went into medical distress. The truck veered into the northbound lanes, crossed the median and collided with a utility box, then crossed 3 Avenue and jumped the curb before colliding with the cement wall of Pets Alive. Employees were inside the store at the time, but none were injured.
The 27-year-old driver was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The store sustained significant structural damage.
Charges are not being contemplated at this time.
