UPDATE: The unknown male wanted in connection with a break-in at the Lethbridge Courthouse is also a suspect in several other break and enters – April 6 at the Chancery Court building along the 200 block of 4 Street South (wallet stolen), April 9 at the Lethbridge County office along the 900 block of 4 Avenue South (wallet stolen), April 14 at the Commerce Court building along the 200 block of 3 Avenue South where offices were ransacked but nothing was reported stolen and an attempted break and enter April 14 at Chancery Court.
Lethbridge Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a male suspect responsible for a weekend break-in at the courthouse.
On April 15, 2019 at approximately 8 a.m. police responded to a report of a break and enter at the courthouse along the 300 block of 4 Street South. Investigation, including a review of video surveillance footage, determined a male subject gained entry by forcing open a door on the east side of building on Sunday at approximately 6:40 p.m. Once inside the male entered the family services office and rummaged around, stole an undisclosed amount of money from a cash box in the law library office and attempted to enter several more doors on the first and second floors without success before exiting out the southwest corner of the building. The money is the only property that appears to have been stolen. Damages are estimated at around $1,500.
The investigation is ongoing to identify and locate the suspect. A photo is included for release.
