Teen girl charged in connection with series of collisions

Lethbridge Police have charged a 14-year-old girl with impaired driving following a series of collisions – including one with a police vehicle – early this morning.

On Aug. 16, 2018 just after 4 a.m. police responded to a report that a vehicle had collided with a fence along the 2000 block of 19 Avenue North. The vehicle proceeded to hit a second fence, headed south in the alley and then struck the 7-11 building on 23 Street North before continuing on and colliding with a responding police vehicle. The officer whose vehicle was struck arrested the driver on scene and she was transported to hospital. Following further investigation she was found to be impaired and subsequently charged.

The officer suffered minor injuries in the collision and the police vehicle sustained extensive damage.

A 14-year-girl, who cannot be named, is charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. A court date has not yet been set.
