Three men charged with drug trafficking offences

Three men have been charged with drug offences after police seized crack cocaine, a firearm and other proceeds of crime following the execution of a search warrant at a north side home Tuesday night.

 On July 8, 2014 at approximately 7:05 p.m. members of the ALERT Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), with assistance from the Lethbridge Regional Police Tactical Team, K9 Unit and Patrol Operations, executed a search warrant at a home along the 400 block of 18 Street North.

 The search resulted in the seizures of approximately 110.7 grams of crack cocaine, a small quantity of marihuana, a .22 caliber rifle, $4,481 cash and other property believed to be stolen. The street value of the recovered drugs is estimated at $11,154.

 Craig Matthew Brezina, 48, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marihuana, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, careless storage of a firearm and knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm. Brezina was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 10.

 Zakaria Abdulekadir Mohamed, 28, of Edmonton, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marihuana, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,0000 and two counts of breaching a recognizance. Mohamed was remanded in custody to appear in court July 11.

 Guliad Mahdi Omar, 20, of Toronto, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marihuana and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000. Omar was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 18.
