Lethbridge Regional Police has charged 3 youths in relation to an attempted robbery that occurred last Friday evening at a West Lethbridge convenience store.
On November 6th at about 8:50pm police responded to a report of an attempted robbery at Varsity Esso located at 420 McMaster Boulevard West. Investigation revealed three males entered the business with their faces covered. One of the males was in possession of a bat, while another was brandishing an air soft pistol. The males demanded money and cigarettes from an employee, who immediately dialed 911 and requested police. The males fled the scene without any money or cigarettes. The employee was not harmed.
Further investigation by police identified the subjects involved as two 16 year-old youths and a 15 year-old youth from Lethbridge.
The youths, who can’t be identified due to their ages, were charged with robbery and committing an indicatable offence while disguised. One of the 16 year-old youths was also charged with using an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence.
Police have arrested two of the youths involved. One was remanded in custody to appear in Lethbridge Youth Court November 12th, and the other was released from custody with numerous court imposed conditions to appear in Lethbridge Youth Court November 25th. The third youth has not been located and a warrant has been requested for his arrest.
