Traffic stop results in $80,000 drug seizure

Police have charged an Edmonton couple after a vehicle stop Saturday afternoon resulted in an $80,000 drug seizure.

At approximately 1:50pm a member of LPS executed a traffic stop in the area of 12 Avenue and 28 Street South for a Traffic Safety Act violation. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been previously reported stolen in Edmonton and inside officers located over 400 grams of methamphetamine, as well as cocaine, marihuana, cannabis resin, oxycodone, morphine, codeine and $1,340 in cash.  

The estimated street value of the drugs is over $80,000.  In addition to the drugs, police also recovered over $15,000 in suspected stolen property.
Police have jointly charged 39 year-old Walter William Henry and 33 year-old Tamara Lee Bonner, both of Edmonton, with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine, possession of marihuana, possession of cannabis resin, possession of oxycodone, possession of codeine, possession of morphine, and possession of stolen property over $5000.
Henry was also charged with failing to comply with a recognizance and possession of proceeds of crime under $5000.
