Two men charged with second degree murder

Lethbridge Police have charged two men with second degree murder in connection with the death of a 45-year-old man who was killed Monday at a northside home.

On November 27, 2017 at approximately 7:20 a.m. EMS responded to a report of an unresponsive male inside a home along the 1200 block of 9 Avenue North. The man, later identified as 45-year-old Kenrick Leonard First Rider, was pronounced dead at the scene and police were subsequently contacted. Investigation determined First Rider had been involved in a verbal dispute with two other men at the home which escalated to a physical altercation that resulted in First Rider sustaining fatal injuries. Upon completion of an autopsy his death was officially ruled a homicide.

At approximately 5:20 p.m. on November 27, a 23-year-old man attended the police station in connection with First Rider’s death and was arrested without incident. He was formally charged with second degree murder today. Following further investigation, a second suspect was identified and also charged with second degree murder. Attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful and his whereabouts remain unknown at this time.

Rylan James Wyatt Twigg, 23, is currently in custody and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Simon Danny Scout, 19. Both men reside in Lethbridge.

Investigation in the matter is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
