Lethbridge Police have charged a male and female in connection with an assault and robbery.
On March 11, 2019 at approximately 10:30 p.m. police responded to a report of an injured male at a liquor store along the 700 block of 23 Street North. Upon arrival police found the store in disarray and a 19-year-old male employee with significant head injuries. Investigation determined two males and a female had entered the store and were asked to leave after the employee recognized them as previously being banned for attempting to steal liquor. The subjects refused and a physical altercation ensued. The employee was struck in the head with bottles and punched until he fell to the ground. The subjects fled with an undisclosed quantity of liquor prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to hospital and treated for head injuries.
Following a review of the video surveillance two of the three suspects were identified. A 37-year-old male was subsequently arrested March 12 and a warrant was issued for the arrest of a 46-year-old female.
Garrett Shane Williams, 37, of Lethbridge, is charged with aggravated assault and robbery. Williams remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court March 30.
