Record Requests

The following procedures are available to individuals, insurance companies, law firms, etc... seeking access to records held by the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS). 

  • Police Information Checks - used for employment, volunteer and educational opportunities, licensing requirements and any other relevant purposes, a detailed search is conducted and disclosed in the interest of public safety. 

  • Routine Requests for Information - used to access witness statements, multi-media files (audio, video, photobooks) certificates of analysis, and police reports from property offence incidents (motor vehicle collisions, thefts, property damage, break and enters...).  

  • Record Suspensions (previously known as pardons) - if applying for a record suspension from the Parole Board of Canada, you will need a local Police Record Check from every police jurisdiction you have reside in for the last five (5) years. 

  • Destruction of Fingerprints and Photographs - if eligible, you can request that identification documents relating to your criminal record history (fingerprints, photographs...) be reviewed for destruction.

  • Right of Access Request -  a formal method for requesting records held by the LPS when information is not available through other request procedures, in keeping with Alberta's Access to Information Act (ATIA).

  • Correction of Personal Information - if you believe there is an error or omission in a record containing your personal information held by LPS, you may request that the LPS correct the information in keeping with Alberta's Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).

BE ADVISED:
Reports made to Lethbridge Police phone lines, emails or social media channels cannot be submitted anonymously or confidentially. All messages are recorded and subject to full disclosure in court.

To report a crime anonymously: 

  • Attend the Lethbridge Police Service in-person to speak with an officer
  • Contact Crime Stoppers to provide a tip about an unsolved case or suspected criminal activity
