Vehicle Towing and Seizure

There are several reasons why the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) may seize vehicles, such as if they are:

  • Stolen
  • Abandoned
  • Parked illegally or is obstructing traffic
  • Damaged or derelict
  • Involved in an accident or crime

When a vehicle is seized, LPS can arrange for it to be towed and stored in the Towed Vehicle Compound.

Hours of Operation:
Monday-Friday – 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
Saturday – 9:00 am to 12:30 pm
Closed Sundays and statutory holidays

Be prepared to pay the applicable fees and show documentation that proves you are the registered owner of the vehicle (e.g. driver’s licence, registration, insurance, etc…).

Fee Information

All fees must be paid before a vehicle is released from the Towed Vehicle Compound.

  • Towing Fees - Vary
    • Charged by the independent contractor who performs the towing. Costs vary based on the vehicle type and situation

  • Towing Administration Fee - $50

  • Compound Storage Fee - $30 per day

  • After-hours Compound Access/Call-Out - $100
    • If required, LPS can contact the Towed Vehicle Compound and request that a staff member release a vehicle outside of business hours for an additional fee

Costs are listed in Canadian dollars and include taxes and processing fees, when charged.

  • Attend the Lethbridge Police Service in-person to speak with an officer
  • Contact Crime Stoppers to provide a tip about an unsolved case or suspected criminal activity
