Lethbridge Police and Fire Face Off for Charity at Battle of the Badges

The annual Battle the Badges charity softball game returns to Spitz Stadium on Saturday, June 27, 2026 as Lethbridge Police (Team Blue) and Lethbridge Fire (Team Red) take to the field in support of two worthy local causes.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

This year’s matchup will feature seven innings of play, along with special police and fire-themed entertainment between the second and third innings.

“While there may be some friendly rivalry on the field, Battle of the Badges highlights the strong working relationship between emergency services in our community,” says Cst. Tianna Fieguth of the Lethbridge Police Service. “We’re proud to come together to support a fun, family-friendly event that directly benefits our community.”

In addition to the game, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including themed concession items, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction featuring custom police and fire jerseys.

“The support this event receives year after year demonstrates the strength of our community,” says Carl Mix, Treasurer of the Lethbridge IAFF Local 237. “Every ticket purchased, auction bid placed and cheer from the stands helps support two worthy very local initiatives.”

Proceeds from Team Blue's fundraising efforts will support Special Olympics, while Team Red will raise funds for pediatric recreational equipment at Chinook Regional Hospital.

Community members are encouraged to bring their families, cheer loudly, wear blue for police or red for fire and take part in an evening that gives back to the community.
