Male charged in connection with weapon incident at school
Lethbridge Police have charged an 18-year-old male in connection with an incident where a knife was brandished at students in a school cafeteria resulting in multiple schools in the area being locked down.
On October 3, at approximately 11:15 a.m., police responded to the east campus of Catholic Central High School along the 400 block of 18 Street South, following a report of a suspicious male in the cafeteria who was observed to be in possession of a knife. The male confronted two students, causing them to fear for their safety, before leaving the building and walking away on foot. As a precaution, Ecole St. Mary's Elementary, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, Catholic Central High and St. Francis Junior High were locked down.
The male was later located along the 2400 block of Parkside Drive South and arrested without incident.
Tage Crow Chief, 18, of Stand Off, is charged with possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, mischief, two counts of assault with a weapon and four counts of failing to comply with a release order. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Crow Chief was remanded in custody to appear in court today.
