Motorcycle Road Safety

With motorcycle season underway, police will be actively focusing on motorcycle safety as part of the May Select Traffic Enforcement Program. Motorcyclists and other drivers are reminded that traffic laws are in place to protect everyone on the road, and unsafe behaviours will be addressed through education and enforcement.

Staying aware, patient and informed can significantly reduce the risk of collisions and injuries.

The following safety tips are a reminder for everyone to do their part to help keep our roads safe.

🛑 Tips for ALL drivers:
•Be aware of your blind spots
• Leave plenty of space behind motorcycles – don’t tailgate
• Always use your turn signals
• Dim your headlights when appropriate

🏍️ Tips for motorcycle riders:

• Get comfortable with your motorcycle and ride within your abilities
• Check your bike before every ride
• Wear reflective or high‑visibility gear
• Ride defensively and anticipate other drivers’ actions
• Watch for vehicles turning right in front of you
