Police charge male in connection with random assaults
Lethbridge Police have charged a 29-year-old male following incidents where three people – unknown to the subject – were assaulted.
On May 8 around 8 p.m., police responded to a 911 call from a female being assaulted at a residence along the 1200 block of 8 Avenue North by an unknown male subject. The male fled prior to police arrival, but was located a short distance away. When confronted by a K9 team, the subject immediately surrendered to police, and was taken into custody without incident.
Further investigation determined the male entered a northside backyard, was confronted by the occupants and upon being told to leave, became aggressive, striking a 16-year-old male and 38-year-old female. Police also identified a third victim, who reported he had been parked in the area and was approached by the unknown male, who was acting aggressively with his fists raised. Fearing the subject was going to punch him through the open vehicle window, he closed it and the male made a threatening gesture before the victim drove away.
Lucas Allan Stadnick, 29, is charged with three counts of assault. Shortly after his release from custody, he was re-arrested for breaching conditions stemming from a previous, unrelated matter. He was further charged with one count of breach of a release order.
Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing Stadnick was remanded in custody to appear in court today.
