Police charge male with dangerous driving while operating a motorcycle
Lethbridge Police arrested a 25-year-old male for dangerous driving while operating a motorcycle over the September long weekend.
On Saturday, August 31, 2024, at approximately 9:30 pm, a green motorcycle was observed weaving in and out of traffic, splitting lanes between vehicles and travelling up to speeds of 140 km/hour in heavy traffic along Mayor Magrath Drive South.
Brendan Campbell, 25, of Brooks, Alberta, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Campbell was released under the condition that he not operate a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, valid certificate of registration and valid proof of insurance. Campbell is scheduled to appear in court on September 23, 2024.
In addition, Campbell was issued violation tickets for: operating a motor vehicle with unauthorized lamps; exhaust muffler producing excessive noise; cycle not equipped with reflector properly affixed to rear on highway; licence plate lamp not turn on and stay lit when heads lamps lit; motor vehicle without licence plate securely attached, legible or clearly visible; operating a motor vehicle of unauthorized class; and failing to produce registration. The specified penalties for these tickets total over $1,200.
The motorcycle Campbell was riding has also been removed from operation until it aligns with the safety requirements set out by the Traffic Safety Act.
